    SF MOMA - Julie Mehretu's commissioned paintings for SF MOMA 2017

This is what media had said back in Sep. 2017: "Julie Mehretu’s diptych HOWL, eon (I, II) (2017), which debuted at SFMOMA on September 2, is enormous. Each canvas is 27 feet high and 32 feet wide—in other words, larger than Leonardo’s Last Supper, or Raphael’s The School of Athens. Together, they are bigger even than Michelange

    Connecting Kids with Learning Disabilities to the Arts

    (I'm very pleased to make an introduction of my guest blogger, Lilian Brooks. This content is very interesting, I'm inviting you, my reader, to enjoy it. Those of you, who are concerned about this field, I hope this blog post would help you and direct you.) School is a tough place for children with learning disabilities. When children struggle to learn in traditional classroom settings, they’re often left feeling deficient and inferior to their peers. But the truth is, ki

    Wonderful Oakland murals

    "Creativity takes courage" Henri Matisse. Street art can talk and share its town’s tales. Oakland has many walls speaking vividly and there are new stories yet to be told. Professional or armature, brush strokes and spray paint trace a narrative about what makes this town art-prolific, outspoken. Long-time inhabitants as well as newcomers, transients, nomads diverse as that of the murals themselves - they all confront Oakland’s fast-paced gentrification and redevelopment si

    color me Red

    It's dusty, rich. Pastel spreads itself fine & wide on the floor of my work space, it is time until the final vision emerges. As I draw, for hours at a time, the pastel powder covers my body, my hands, my face, it gets into my blond, vividly coloring it pink. It's not until the evening when it bleeds itself off in the shower while disappearing with the water stream. My hope is that direct colors & simple lines speak loud & clear. All mark- making is evaluated against anot

    PATTERN LANGUAGE

    'PATTERN LANGUAGE' - title of the show aVENUE, 33361 Mission st., San Francisco exhibition: 'PATTERN LANGUAGE', Apr. 30, 2017 - July 24, 2017 // opening reception: June 4, 3-5pm When we think of patterns, the first image that comes to mind is most definitely something man-made and repetitive, something that follows a certain strict logic and therefore is easy to predict. At the same time, nature has its own patterns: frost on a window, waves and ripples, intricate wing

    art discussion inspired by "Dr. Zhivago" by Boris Pasternak

    Just last month I finished reading Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak & wanted to share a few thoughts with you. Please leave comments, if you wish. I'd like to write this blog post in Russian, my apologies to my English-speaking audience. I felt like I needed to express myself in the tongue the work was written in & the one I lived through while reading it. Книга грандиозная! Я читала её местами взахлёб, местами замедляя течение и перечитывая отдельные части по несколько раз.

    holiday open studios, 2016!

    I sold a large piece today- "She is bridge" to a very interesting client! It's a young family of 4, one of the clients is a Stanford University professor, the other is an amazing woman with a wonderful insight and taste. Making artwork is like having children, once you birth it, it is yours forever. Although, I was thrilled to finally find a loving home for my darling, I was at the same time sad to say good bye to it. The client has requested to re-frame the piece, thus I

    'In search of clarity. Trip to New York' - title of the show In preparation of the art for the display & install at The Ramp Gallery I made two process drawing / paper-cut pieces 30" x 137" hexaptych, 'High Line' & 30" x 22" 'Little Climber'. It's been taking about 4 months to create the drawing to prepare it for cutting. These paper cuts are quite labor intensive, besides this time I wanted to give them a little more color and so I experimented with tempera paint on glassi

    3d printed sculpture / art - online review of a few artists artwork including mine

    http://www.artsyshark.com/2016/04/26/artists-using-3d-printing/ Experience of creating sculpture digitally is quite different from any physical interaction with the material. Being in the virtual world of the 3d software presents the artist with endless possibilities where there are no material limitations. Innovation through information modeling is exciting. Additive process of the 3d printing manufacturing provocative because things are literally made out dust (powder);
