William Swanson - Painting; / SUBSURFACE CONTINUUM /

Fractured, glowing, golden, white & ocher flat landscapes are interjected with sudden sharp geometry. Complex, multilayered flattened landscapes with a hint to depth of field, broken perspective & loosely defined horizon relationship of the bottom to the top, of the ground to the sky. Everything about the work is contemporary, and yet there is another layer of content where areas of artwork look as "damaged" digital image files. They are interrupted with missing information pixels & substituted with computer generated ones. Defragmentation.
